Firststeps School of Dance

Our school was opened in 2003, by mother and daughter, Sue and Kit Dickinson. Sue and Kit are from very different backgrounds. Sue with an academic training in human movement psychology and Kit who was a professional ballet dancer. By 2002 they were both qualified RAD teachers and joined forces. We are a family managed school whose ethos is to spread the joy of dance and nurture an environment for all students to fulfil their potential.

We would try different combinations and steps, and build on these at our own pace, whereby I saw personal improvements each week.
They really take the time to make each student progress, with a lot of care and attention (something rather rare to come by with adult classes in London), and new exercises and evolving combinations every week.
My daughters have gained so much confidence from their lessons with Miss Kit and Miss Espe.
They teach the technique with care and discipline whilst grounding every class in their love of ballet and dancing.
Kit Dickinson is a very kind, fair & supportive teacher, whose passion for dance shines through in how she teaches.
We started firststeps school 2 years ago and my daughter absolutely loves it.
Kit and her team are so caring, dedicated and welcoming to all.
The experience of performing at Jacksons Lane Theatre was inspirational for them both and visibly increased their confidence not just in ballet, but at school and at home too.
Excellent adult ballet classes.
I have been attending adult ballet classes at Firststeps for three years and highly recommend the classes.
