Some words from the DVSA about test waiting times.nnInterestingly, the advice is to book a driving test as soon as the Theory is completed.....but be prepared to re-book the test if you aren't ready.nnThis is precisely what I am NOT telling people to do simply because it is impossible to say how long an individual will take to pass.nnThe current waiting time is 6 months, which, in lesson hours, is 48 hours. The number of hours for an average learner is between 50 and 70 hours, so 48 is going to be tight.nnAdd in holidays, sickness and other missed lessons and 6 my maths is probably closer to 5 months, which, in my experience isn't doable.nnMy preferred way forward is to break the back of the course, taking as long as someone needs and without putting them under undue pressure to try and meet a test date.nnAs soon as the bulk of the training is over, only then do I get someone to book a test. At that point, the pressure is off and it makes the lead up to a test a whole lot less stressful.nnI have found my approach works really well, so on this occasion, I will not be taking the advice of the DVSA.
