The Phoenix Studio

A great venue with good facilities: parking, toilets, place to eat your packed lunch - hot or cold.

The teaching and the welcoming, friendly, supportive atmosphere are both fantastic.

I've done several courses there now, clay sculpting, stone sculpting and life drawing, each one was superb.

His clear explanations and emphasis on close observation has given me the confidence I needed to do portraits without using a grid in just two days.

Wonderful people, superb course and Phoenix studios is such a beautiful place.

I highly recommend this course - and the studio is lovely and peaceful, and the home baked snacks delicious (please don’t ever take the raisins out of the flapjacks - despite what some might say!

James and Alison are wonderful teachers and, as we are complete beginners, we couldn't believe the quality of work we were able to produce in such a short time.

There was no rush to finish on either of the 2 days and wgen we back to do the glazing there was a lovely unhurried atmosphere.

He was kindly attentive and helpful to us all equally, demonstrating skill, patience, enthusisam and a heart warming sense of humour that made the two days a pure joy to experience - his GF homemade flapjacks helped too!!!
