Best Dance Classes in Scarborough

People often ask what inspired me to become a dance teacher. And it's quite a difficult question to answer in all honesty! I don't actually remember my life without dance. I began dancing in Birmingham at the age of 4 with Edwina Norris who gave me my first experience of dancing over 40 years ago and my first experience of teaching ballet more than 25 years ago. For me, dancing wasn't just attending class, it was the community that I was part of. As a 15 year old I was helping out with younger students one evening, another evening was 2-3 hours of classes, and Saturday was a full day of helping out with selling the school uniforms or with the classes, then my own classes all afternoon. It was so much fun spending the day with some of my best friends, the laughs we had when we weren't (and often when we were) in class are some of my favourite memories. When I moved away to university it become more difficult to find the right dance class. But, after giving up dance several times and always going back, I realised that not dancing was never going to work for me. Instead I opted to make it my full time job! And now I hope to provide that welcoming, supportive, ambitious and happy community that I grew up in for all my students Edwina was a wonderful teacher who always put her students and their families at the forefront of everything she did. She was an absolute inspiration to me.
