FAQs

Do I have to take a theory test for CBT training?

There is currently no requirement for you to take a theory test however you are required by law to be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the Highway Code. You will be frequently tested on your knowledge of the Highway Code throughout the day. If you cannot demonstrate a good knowledge of the Highway Code we cannot conduct element E (the road ride) and will ask you to return on another date where you can show a good knowledge of the Highway Code. There are free Highway Code phone apps and we have free copies available.

What motorbikes do you use?

For CBT training we use Kawasaki Z125 & Honda CBF125 geared motorbikes and Honda vision automatic scooters. For DAS (Direct Access Scheme) and A2 training, we use the new 2023 Yamaha MT07 motorcycles.

How long will it take to get my licence?

It can take between 1 (intensive course) and 6 weeks depending on what training package you have chosen, how often you can commit to lessons, your ability (some people naturally take longer than others), the time of year (test dates can be further away in the summer months as this is the busiest time of year), passing first time (we have a first time pass rate of well over 90%), if you fail module 1 or 2 you will have to wait 3 or 10 days respectively for a re-test.
