FAQs

This is my first lesson and I'm really nervous what will I do on my first lesson?

Most people are nervous when driving for the first time and we will ensure that we find a quiet location to start you off. Our instructor will explain the controls of the car and will make sure that you are comfortable with the vehicle before driving on any main roads. Only when you are fully happy to take to the major roads will we do so.

How long will my driving lesson last?

The length of the lesson will be determined by yourself and the time you have free. At Drive Wright Sheffield we are flexible in the length of the lesson and the time of day you take it. Our lessons last for the full hour unlike some other driving schools that take off time for picking up and dropping off.

Will there be another trainee sitting in the back of my car?

At Drive Wright Sheffield we do not allow passengers to sit in the back of our cars whilst we are teaching. There are occasions however that an external examiner from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) may sit in on a lesson to ensure that our standards are being maintained. This is completely voluntary and you can decline if you wish.

How many hours of tuition will it take to reach driving test standard?

The Driving Standards Agency of which we are a member recommends that students take a minimum of 45 hours worth of professional tuition combined with at least 22 hours of practice. This is not the case for every student though as different people learn at different speeds. Our aim will be to get you to the required test standard in the shortest time possible.

What happens if I pass my theory test but fail my hazard perception test?

The minimum pass mark for the multiple choice theory test is 43 out of 50 and for the hazard perception test you must obtain a pass mark of 44 out of 75. You must pass both the theory test and the hazard perception test at the same time in order to get your theory
