FAQs

What do I need before I start driving lessons?

You will need to have your provisional driving licence before you start driving lessons. In the UK, you have to be 17 years old to get a provisional licence to drive a car. The only exception to this is if you receive a full disability allowance, in which case you can get your provisional licence at 16 years old. You can get a provisional licence application form from any main post office, or you can apply online here:

How much teaching experience do you have?

Martin has been teaching people to drive for over 40 years. Through this experience, he has developed many very simple methods to overcome common (and uncommon) problems that many learner drivers face.

Do you only teach learner drivers?

No. Aside from learner drivers, Martin also teaches full driving licence holders too. Each year, we teach between 8-15 qualified drivers who may not have driven for a few years or are in need of refresher lessons. Martin can also prepare those who want to take an Advanced Driving Test too, such as for the Institute of Advanced Motorist.

What sort of car do you use?

The Acclaim Motor School car is a modern Toyota Yaris. The car is fitted with air-conditioning, a rear-facing camera to help with reversing, dual-controls, instructors mirrors, and a dash-cam. The Toyota Yaris is a small car which is easy to manoeuvre and can comfortably fit people of smaller stature, as well as those well over 6 feet tall.
