We host belt testings every few months. Not everyone attends and tests every time but we know how much our students value and appreciate short term goals. Now sometimes, students just choose not to test. We don’t ever push it, but sometimes we want to know if it’s anything we can help with. The student (whose parent wrote us this tremendous review), missed her last belt testing. When her mum revealed that the reason she didn’t want to do it was because she was afraid of sparring, that pulled on our heart strings a little. Mr Lukic was the first to hear this and decided to take this little girl to the side so that she could ‘beat him up’. This wasn’t the most realistic idea of what sparring was going to be like but that didn’t matter. Mr Lukic had created a really positive experience doing something this young girl was dreading. She left with a huge smile on her face. Now, this is only a stepping stone, but at least it’s one in the right direction. Why?! More on this later.
