Swimming Teacher Vacancy.nPurpose of Job: To teach a range of aquatic skills to both individuals and small groups using the Swim England National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS). nnKey Responsibilities:n• To plan and deliver lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans.n• Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly and to operate within Health & Safety guidelines and undertake risk assessments.n• For the duration of the lesson to instruct, provide feedback and encouragement to participants and to record students' progress.n• To welcome all participants in a professional and friendly manner.n• To prepare effectively for sessions.n• To log and report any incidents/accidents or any other concerns to the Director of Swimming,.n• Attend regular training and updates (Compulsory).n• Liaise with the Director of Swimming on pupils’ progress. n• Assess new pupils as required outside of planned normal lessons.n• Communicate with swimmers and parents of all swimmers updating them on progress and development.n• To constantly update, manage and complete the students' progress tracker using either a mobile application or written skills record sheet.n• Teach with full regard to H&S coordinating and communicating with other teachers’ assistants and lifeguards on the pupils in a class and supervision required.n• Report any safety concerns or health and safety issues to the Director of Swimmingn• Provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques. n• Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance. n• To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.nn• Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates and badges.n• To attend regular meetings with the Director of Swimming as and when necessary. n• To undertake any additional duties as may be required by the Director of SwimmingnnGeneral Dutiesnn• To arrive in good time before the lesson start time and to ensure facilities are set up appropriately.n• To ensure the lesson programs are safe and appropriate to the needs/abilities of the participants involved and provide supervision and assistance to all participants.n• Present and conduct yourself in an appropriate manner with courtesy and regard for others.n• Arrange cover for any planned absence and inform Director of Swimming of the changes in good time.n• Wear suitable clothing for teaching when in the water and uniform when out of water or when leaving or arriving on site.n• Attend progress and award meetings.n• Maintain your qualifications, ensuring they are up to date and relevant.n• Attend team meeting training session /employee review sessions/ CPD courses as recommended.n• Set up and put away any equipment needed for lessons.
