Self defence, Yoga and Qigong There are many connections and threads between yoga, martial arts and qigong. They all use body, mind, breath, energy and awareness. Following on from a previous workshop, we will be focusing more on a number of self-defence techniques, and it is hoped that these will be of benefit to participants. There is no physical contact, and moves will mostly be on the slower end of the spectrum – this is not meant to be a hot, sweaty workout, the emphasis is more on introducing/acquiring /using skills and developing control. There is some partner work involved with some of the above. We will be working on yoga with a martial arts or qigong flavour; a number of defences against attacks; developing and applying power both internally and externally; using a combination of padwork and partner work to improve co-ordination, timing, speed and accuracy.
