FAQs

My child is not very athletic, will this be a problem?

Absolutely not. Martial Arts is great for all abilities and at Family Martial Arts Centres we allow all students to progress at their own pace. We recognise and reward progression no matter how small and encourage students to try their best whilst not comparing themselves to others.

Do you offer classes just for Beginners?

Yes. Our Positive Start programme is specifically for beginners. It assumes no prior knowledge, is suitable for all ages, for all abilities and fitness levels and most importantly, the classes are safe and non-intimidating.

Do I have to participate in Competitions?

Absolutely not. However, we do offer competitions from time to which you are welcome to enter if you so wish. These competitions include events for sparring, breaking techniques, and forms (kata/hyung).

Can anyone earn a Blackbelt in martial arts?

In theory, anyone has the potential to earn a Blackbelt with dedication, consistent training, and the ability to meet the requirements of the syllabus. However, earning a Blackbelt is a significant achievement and usually requires a considerable investment of time, effort, and commitment. How long it takes will also depend upon the individual, but it will take a minimum of three years.
