Why is karate good for kids ?
Karate has many benefits for both children and adults. Karate not only helps you learn an art with self-defence techniques, but helps with self-discipline, self-confidence, physical and mental health, focus, determination, endurance, and much more.
Am I too old to start a martial art?
The only age limit we have is that children must be at least 6 years old, there is no upper age limit. One of our black belts did not start training until he was 47, and he still enjoys karate in his retirement!
Would I have to fight black belts?
All black belts are highly trained and will show the upmost respect for their fellow karate-ka (students) at all times. We do partner beginners with higher grades, including black belts, as they will be able to help you with your karate training.

We took the advanced class outside this week to work on seated defences. Taking the principles from the standing techniques, and applying them in a seated position. 🪑 Part of this included picking up or flipping a chair in our finishing modes to use as a barrier between ourselves and the attacker. 💥 ℹ️ What is a finishing mode? A finishing mode is what we refer to as the last part of a technique. The finishing mode is always responsive to what the attacker does, never a scripted sequence. The main objectives with a finishing mode are to better your position ✔️ deliver effective counter strikes that create an opportunity to disengage ✔️ disengage and scan for exits, any other potential threats and objects that can be used to protect yourself. ✔️ In this class one part of our finishing modes were to use a chair as a barrier, giving us more time to get away. 🥊 Well done everyone who attended, you absolutely smashed it! 👏...
