FAQs

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that uses a specialised machine called a reformer. It provides resistance and support for a variety of exercises aimed at improving strength, flexibility, balance, and overall body conditioning.

What should I bring to my first class?

We recommend bringing a water bottle, a towel, and grip socks for hygiene and safety. If you do not own a pair of grip socks, they are available to buy at our studio. Wear comfortable, active wear clothes that allow you to move freely.

Do I need previous Pilates experience to join a class?

No prior Pilates experience is required. We offer classes for all skill levels, including beginners. Our instructors will guide you through the exercises and ensure you are comfortable and safe.

Are there any health restrictions for participating in reformer Pilates?

If you have any medical conditions, injuries, or concerns, please consult your physician before participating. Inform our instructors of any issues so they can modify exercises as needed.

How is Reformer Pilates different from Mat Pilates?

While both forms focus on core strength and overall fitness, Reformer Pilates uses a machine to provide resistance, allowing for a greater range of motion and more versatile exercises compared to Mat Pilates.

Helen came to see me after having surgery on her abdomen for diastasis recti. When we met, she found her movements were restricted, preventing her from raising her arms above her head and moving freely in her daily activities. Together, we devised a plan involving gentle stretching and deep core strength exercises. We also focused on mindfulness to prevent overprotecting her abdomen. In just 11 weeks, Helen is now able to lie flat, reach up high, and move with much more confidence. As you can see from her beaming smile in this video, she is full of confidence and much stronger.
